Bible Verse
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
Ellen G. White Quote
“To wait patiently, to trust when everything looks dark, is the lesson that the leaders in God’s work need to learn.”
— Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 174
Reflection
Waiting is never easy. In a world where everything is instant : instant messages, fast food, quick answers we often struggle when God tells us to "wait". But Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that waiting isn’t wasted time. It’s where God renews our strength.
Think of the eagle. It doesn’t flap its wings in panic to stay in the air. It soars gliding on invisible currents of wind. God wants us to soar like that, not strive in our own strength. When we wait on Him, we receive divine strength that helps us walk through trials without fainting and run through challenges without giving up.
Let’s look at real life.
A young woman prays for a job but hears nothing for weeks. She wants to give up, but instead, she keeps praying, keeps trusting. One day, a call comes with a job that’s better than what she imagined.
Or a family prays for healing for a sick loved one. Days go by. No improvement. But through the waiting, they grow closer praying more, leaning on God more, encouraging others in the hospital. Even in delay, God is working.
Ellen G. White reminds us: trusting while things look dark is one of the "greatest lessons" of faith. God often does His deepest work when we feel like nothing is happening. Waiting is where our character is refined and our faith becomes real.
Let This Be Your Prayer Today
Lord, help us to wait on You with patience and trust. When answers are delayed and doors seem closed, teach us to soar above fear and doubt. Renew our strength today, and remind us that waiting time is never wasted time in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
