When the Fire Fell on Wet Wood

Bible Verse
“Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust...”
— 1 Kings 18:38 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote
“God will accept nothing less than the whole heart; but He will give strength for every duty and courage for every trial.”
— Prophets and Kings, p. 148

Reflection
On Mount Carmel, Elijah did something strange: he drenched the altar in water. Buckets and buckets until the trench overflowed. Then he prayed. No tricks. No firestarter. No Plan B.
And God sent fire.
Not just fire but fire that licked up wet wood, dust, and stone. That day, the impossible burned. Because when God moves, He doesn’t need dry conditions. He doesn’t wait for everything to be perfect.
Maybe you feel like wet wood right now drenched by doubt, delay, or discouragement. But the power is not in you. It's in the God who answers with fire, even when everything looks too soaked to spark.
God’s fire can fall even on what seems unready. Don’t wait to feel strong before you surrender.

Prayer For This Day
Lord, There are places in my life that feel too cold, too heavy, too waterlogged with fear or fatigue. But I believe You are still the God who sends fire. I lay it all on Your altar today. Send Your presence. Burn away what isn’t needed. Be glorified in what only You can do. Amen.
