Verse
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.” — Jeremiah 17:7–8
Reflection
There are seasons when life feels dry when prayers seem unanswered, dreams fade, and faith feels small. In those moments, it’s not the surface that sustains us; it’s the roots.
When a tree grows deep roots, it can stand through storms and droughts. In the same way, when we stay connected to God through prayer, His Word, and quiet trust our soul draws strength from the living water of His presence, even when the world feels empty.
Sometimes God allows us to go through “dry seasons” not to break us, but to deepen us. He wants our faith to move from feelings to foundation. It’s in silence that roots grow.
Ellen G. White reminds us:
“The roots of faith must be deep down in Christ. Self must be lost in Him. Then we shall have the mind of Christ.”
— The Desire of Ages, p. 330
When your surface looks barren, remember God is working underground, strengthening your roots. The deeper you go in Him, the stronger you’ll stand when the storms come.
Prayer
Lord, help me grow deep roots in You. When I don’t see fruit or feel rain, remind me that You are still at work beneath the surface. Anchor my heart in Your promises, and let my trust grow stronger through every season. Amen.
