The Whisper After the Wind

Bible Verse
“And after the fire a still small voice.”
— 1 Kings 19:12 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote
“It is not always the most learned presentation of God’s truth that convicts and converts the soul... but it is the quiet, simple message of truth spoken in love that reaches the heart.”
— Gospel Workers, p. 169

Reflection:
Elijah had just come from Mount Carmel, where fire fell and people shouted, “The Lord, He is God!” But now, exhausted and afraid, he hid in a cave waiting for God to show up again.
There came a wind. An earthquake. A fire. But God wasn’t in any of those.
Then came a whisper.
God doesn’t always meet us in dramatic moments. Sometimes He comes in the soft silence of our discouragement. No lightning. No voice from the clouds. Just a stillness that says, “I’m here.”
We expect God to speak in fire. But sometimes, He chooses whispers so we’ll slow down and truly listen.
If you’re looking for God, don’t just watch the skies. Listen for the whisper.

Prayer For This Day:
Father, I often expect You in loud miracles but today, help me hear You in the quiet. In the stillness of the morning, in the hush of my heart. Teach me to listen deeply. Let Your gentle voice lead me, even when all is silent. Amen.
