The Silence Between Storms

Bible Verse
“And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
— Mark 4:39 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote
“The storm did not disturb Him. It was the fear of His disciples that broke the stillness of His rest.”
— The Desire of Ages, p. 334

Reflection
The Sea of Galilee knew storms. Sudden, violent winds. Panicked sailors. But in this storm, Jesus was asleep.
And after He awoke and calmed the sea, there came something just as powerful as the miracle: a great calm.
Not just outside but inside the disciples. In that moment, they saw Him differently not just as a teacher, but as the One whom even the waves obey.
Sometimes we focus on surviving the storm. But what about the silence that follows?
That sacred quiet after fear passes, when the water is still, and the only sound is the heartbeat of your faith growing stronger. That calm is a gift. Receive it.
Jesus doesn’t just silence storms. He gives calm that teaches you who He truly is.

Closing Prayer
Lord, Thank You for being with me in the storm and in the stillness after. Teach me not to rush past the calm. Let me linger there, in the peace You provide, and remember: You are not just my shelter you are my Savior.
*Amen.*
