The Second Touch

Bible Verse
“After that He put His hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.”
— Mark 8:25 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote
“He who is trying to become holy by his own works in keeping the law, is attempting an impossibility.”
— Steps to Christ, p. 62

Reflection
In Mark 8, Jesus heals a blind man but not all at once. After the first touch, the man says, “I see men as trees, walking.” Only after a second touch does he see clearly.
Why didn’t Jesus heal him fully the first time? Could it be to remind us that spiritual clarity sometimes comes gradually? That healing physical or spiritual isn’t always instant?
Sometimes, we get a partial vision. We see a little bit of what God is doing, but things still feel blurry. In those moments, we need the second touch a deeper encounter, a continued walk with Christ.
God is patient with us. If you’re in a season of “blurry faith,” take heart. He’s not finished. He will touch you again.

Prayer
Gracious Father, Thank You for touching me, even when I don’t fully understand what You’re doing. When my faith feels unclear and I see only shadows, help me wait for the second touch. I trust You to finish the work You started in me. Keep shaping my sight until I see You more clearly. Amen.
