The Lord Is My Shepherd

Bible Verse:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
— Psalm 23:1 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote:
“He knows us each by name. He knows the very house in which we live, the name of each occupant, and often He has given directions to His servants to go to a certain street in a certain city, to such a house, to find one of His sheep.”
— Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 187

Reflection
Psalm 23 begins with one of the most comforting declarations in Scripture: “The Lord is my shepherd.” These five simple words speak volumes about God’s character His nearness, His care, His commitment.
A shepherd doesn’t just lead a flock he knows each sheep. He protects, provides, guides, and, when needed, carries them. That’s how God sees you not as one in a crowd, but as His own. You are known by name, watched over with love, and led with purpose.
Ellen White paints a powerful picture: God knows where you live. He knows your family. He knows your burdens and your hopes. And He sends help sometimes in ways we don’t even recognize to guide you back when you stray or to comfort you when you’re hurting.
When David says, “I shall not want,” he’s not claiming a life free of hardship. He’s saying that because the Lord is his Shepherd, he lacks nothing essential, because God Himself is enough.
No matter what you face today confusion, fear, loss, or uncertainty rest in the truth that your Shepherd is near. He will walk with you through every valley and lead you to places of peace.

Let This Be Your Prayer Today:
Lord, thank You for being my Shepherd. Help me to trust in Your leading even when I can’t see the full path. Teach me to rest in Your presence, knowing that You provide all I need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
