Bible Verse
“Thy gentleness hath made me great.”
— Psalm 18:35 (KJV)
Ellen G. White Quote
“He stoops to take the hand of the weakest one, that they may learn to walk by His side.”
— The Desire of Ages, p. 528
Reflection
We speak often of God’s power, but His gentleness is just as holy. David, a warrior-king, didn’t say, “Your strength made me great.” He said, “Your gentleness.”
The Hebrew word for "gentleness" here means stooping low, like a parent kneeling to tie a child’s shoe or lifting a tired toddler from the dust.
God doesn’t shout from the clouds He kneels in our struggle.
When Jesus wrote in the dust beside the accused woman, He didn’t tower over her in condemnation. He stooped. That’s what He does: bends down into shame, pain, silence and writes mercy there.
Greatness in the kingdom is birthed not from force, but from the gentle touch of a God who kneels.
Prayer For Today
Lord, Thank You for not standing far off. Thank You for bending down into my mess, my tears, and my fears. Teach me to walk by Your side where gentleness leads and grace restores. May I learn from the way You stoop to lift.
Amen.
