Bible Verse
“But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.”
— John 8:6 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote
“Jesus looked for a moment upon the scene the trembling woman, the hard-faced dignitaries… In His infinite wisdom, He anticipated every detail and stooped to write in the dust.”
— The Desire of Ages, p. 461

Reflection

The woman was caught. Exposed. Dragged into public shame. Stones were ready. But Jesus said nothing at first. Instead, He *wrote in the dust*.

We don’t know what He wrote. Names? Sins? Scripture? It doesn’t say. But His silence was more powerful than their shouting.

Jesus didn’t meet accusation with accusation. He knelt. He paused. He reminded everyone that the ground we all stand on is the same dust. And yet, from that dust, mercy spoke louder than law.

He still does this. When we feel condemned or ashamed, He bends low, not to point a finger but to draw attention to grace in the dirt.

Jesus doesn’t shout over your shame. He kneels beside you and writes grace in the dust.

Closing Prayer

Jesus, Thank You for Your gentleness. When others throw stones, You kneel. When I feel exposed, You cover me with mercy. Help me hear Your silence louder than my fears. And teach me to kneel beside others in the same compassion You’ve shown me. Amen.
