Strength In Weakness

Bible Verse
“But he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote
“It is in the trial, in the deep waters, in the furnace of affliction, that we are brought into communion with Christ. It is when we feel our weakness that His strength is made perfect in us.”
— Steps to Christ, p. 70

Reflection
In a world that celebrates strength and independence, admitting weakness often feels uncomfortable. We may try to hide our struggles or push through them in our own power. Yet, God tells us something radically different: Our weakness is the perfect stage for His strength.

Paul knew this intimately. He pleaded with God to remove a “thorn in the flesh,” a persistent weakness or struggle, but God answered him with profound grace: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

In moments of weakness, we are reminded that we are not self-sufficient. But in that recognition, God’s grace becomes evident. It’s when we are at our weakest that His strength shines through most brightly.

Ellen G. White points out that it’s in the trials, the difficulties, and the afflictions that we truly experience communion with Christ. We learn to lean on Him in ways we never would when everything is going well. The deeper our weakness, the greater our need for His power and the more His strength is revealed.

So, if you are feeling weak today, take heart. It’s in that very place that God is most able to display His strength through you.

Let This Be Your Prayer Today
Lord, I confess my weakness and my need for You. In my trials and struggles, may Your strength be evident in my life. Help me to embrace Your grace and trust that You are working in me even in my weakest moments. In Jesus' name, Amen.
