Reverence in God’s Presence

Bible Verse
“Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools.”
— Ecclesiastes 5:1 (KJV)

Ellen G. White Quote
“When the worshipers enter the place of meeting, they should do so with decorum, passing quietly to their seats... Common talking, whispering, and laughing should not be permitted in the house of worship.”
— Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, p. 492

Reflection
In our busy lives, we can easily forget the sacredness of coming into God’s presence especially in His house. Ecclesiastes reminds us that when we come before God, we are to come with reverence, prepared more to listen than to speak.
Worship is not a casual gathering; it is a holy encounter with the Creator. The way we enter, behave, and engage in church reveals much about our understanding of God’s holiness.
Ellen White speaks clearly about this: the church should not be treated like any other place. Our attitude in worship should reflect awe, not entertainment or formality. Quietness, attention, and a teachable spirit are acts of worship themselves.

Let This Be Your Prayer Today
Lord, teach me to approach Your presence with reverence. Help me remember that when I enter Your house, I stand on holy ground. May my heart be still, my ears open, and my soul ready to hear You speak. Amen.
