Bible Verse
“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
— Psalm 119:165 (KJV)
Ellen G. White Quote
“If the word of God were eaten as the food of the soul, if it were treated with respect and deference, it would be to us as the leaves of the tree of life.”
— Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 6, p. 392
Reflection
In today’s world, people are quick to be offended. A word, a glance, a comment on social media it doesn’t take much. But God offers us something deeper: peace that cannot be shaken. According to Psalm 119:165, those who love God’s law who hold on to it, meditate on it, and live by it have peace that nothing can take away.
This peace isn’t a feeling; it’s a way of life. It comes from feeding on God’s Word daily, as Ellen White describes. Just like food keeps our bodies strong, Scripture strengthens our minds and hearts.
Think about a teacher working in a stressful school environment. Every day is a challenge. Some students are disrespectful. The workload is heavy. Yet, each morning she begins her day with scripture and prayer. Instead of reacting in anger, she responds with grace. That’s the power of God's Word at work.
Or imagine someone receiving unfair criticism at church or work. Instead of being crushed by it, they remember Jesus' words: “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Because they love God's law, they choose peace over pride.
God’s Word doesn’t just teach us it transforms us. And when we are rooted in it, offense loses its power over us.
Let This Be Your Prayer Today
Lord, help us to love Your law more than our pride, our pain, or our preferences. Let Your Word become our daily food, shaping how we speak, think, and react. Fill us with that deep peace that nothing can steal. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
