— Psalm 46:1 (KJV)

Reflection
Trouble doesn't knock before entering. It comes suddenly through illness, loss, broken relationships, or overwhelming stress. But Psalm 46:1 brings comfort in the storm: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” He is not distant. He’s not delayed. He is present.
Think of a storm shelter during a tornado. The wind howls outside, but inside the shelter there is safety. God wants to be that kind of refuge for you not just a future hope, but a present help. Right now. In this moment.
Imagine a father of three who suddenly loses his job. The bills don’t stop coming, and the worry is heavy. He prays, unsure of what to do but day by day, God provides: a side job here, a gift card from a friend, an unexpected opportunity. It’s not always flashy, but it’s real. God was there, present in every moment of that trial.
Or a young girl struggling with anxiety. She feels overwhelmed and alone. But in prayer, she begins to sense peace. A verse speaks directly to her situation. A friend calls at the right moment. God is present.
Ellen White beautifully reminds us that God has a thousand ways to help us many of which we’ve never even considered. That’s the kind of God we serve creative, compassionate, and close.
Let This Be Your Prayer Today
Lord, when trouble comes, help me to run to You first. Be my refuge when I feel weak, and my strength when I feel overwhelmed. Thank You that You are always near never late, never distant. I trust You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
