Reflection
We all want a fresh start sometimes. New habits, new goals, a clean slate. But God offers more than just a restart He promises a new heart.
The people of Israel had strayed far from God. Their hearts were hard, selfish, and spiritually dry. Yet in His mercy, God didn’t say, “Try harder.” He said, “I will give you a new heart.” That’s grace.
A man once shared how he tried to quit a destructive habit for years. He read books, made promises, tried to distract himself but nothing worked. Finally, he cried out to God in prayer and said, “I don’t need willpower. I need a new heart.” And that’s when change began. Not instantly but from the inside out.
Like spiritual heart surgery, God doesn’t just polish the outside He transforms our desires, our motives, our direction.
Ellen White reminds us that this heart change is like being born again. It’s not behavior modification it’s a miracle.
Let This Be Your Prayer Today
Lord, I am tired of trying to change myself. I need You to give me a new heart and a new spirit. Cleanse me from within, and help me walk in Your ways not by my strength, but by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
